An insatiable curiosity is what led me into wanting to understand anything I had in front of me as my current interest or hobby. As a kid I was convinced that I would be an inventor of some kind. I sketched and drew a lot. I had no idea how this was going to be my career, but that was the plan. For a gift one year I received this super thick kids Encyclopedia from my aunt. It was the best thing ever. My brain found it’s catnip. I suddenly found I had such a wide range of interests in the ocean, space, physics, the arts and architecture.

I began my photographic career (to speak of) in the editorial sector, when I had sufficiently proven myself to this editor I looked up to in the magazine house. The kicker came from the fact I had only done 2 shoots for this editor before the magazine got closed down.

I thought my fledgling career was over. Fortunately not too long later, I got a call from another magazine knowing if I was available for a shoot. The dream stayed alive.

When I said I had an insatiable curiosity for something I loved, it very much applied to my photography. I was self taught and had no fancy degree. Yet suddenly all those broad interests I had as a kid & growing up came into play.

Physics, light, colour, art, design, psychology all combine into what photography is. You just see things differently when you’re looking with curiosity.

After about 5 years of shooting editorially, I got my first opportunity to shoot commercially. This was what I found I wanted and had set out for myself as the goal. I loved the idea of working on these huge projects with amazing production and teams to help with making it all come into a reality. You quickly learn as a photographer, you can do so much more when you have a team. This is what I absolutely love about being in the commercial advertising industry now, another decade after that first commercial job, is the teams.

Having the privilege of working with some of the most incredible clients and teams around the world, is whats made my career so fulfilling. Traveling for commercial projects ticks another huge aspect of what I loved doing. There is little that comes close to how much I enjoy traveling, especially when it’s combined to an awesome project. Portugal, Spain, Dubai, Los Angeles, New York, London, Russia, China. Each with such great memories that grow each time I do another project.

I hope to work with you somewhere in this beautiful world of ours. I bring a lifetime of avid curiosity in the world, a deep desire to understand (an idea, notion, narrative). I’m a man that has been repeatedly told I have an unhealthy obsession with light. A lover of stories and culture and people. A boy that ended up being an inventor of ideas after all.
